We’re a dual-physician household of medical educators who happened to get a domain and a website to help organize their lives better (it’s a long story). We are passionate not only about our patients and our profession, but also about teaching and educating medical students and residents.
Family Medicine Staff Physician
Greg Zhang, MD (he/him)
Greg Zhang grew up in Andover, Massachusetts. He attended Tufts University, double majoring in sociology and community health, and graduated summa cum laude with high thesis honors in 2016. He then completed his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts in 2020.
He completed a residency in Family Medicine at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton from 2020-2023. During this time, he was recognized for his achievements and commitment to the residency program as Intern of the Year in 2021 and Resident Teacher of the Year in both 2022 and 2023. He served as Chief Resident in his 3rd year in the program and presented his scholarly work at regional conferences and in the national American Family Physician Journal. He received his board certification in Family Medicine in the spring of 2023.
As a junior attending, he balanced operational medicine commitments with his passion for medical education, returning during nights, weekends, and holiday blocks to teach residents. He completed a Military Tropical Medicine elective and enrolled in a Health Professions Education certificate program through the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. Since graduating residency, he has presented podium presentations at the Uniformed Services Academy of Family Physicians Annual Conference, published in the peer-reviewed Society of Teachers of Family Medicine PRIMER journal and Military Medicine, and peer reviewed two articles for American Family Physician.
He returned to Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton as core faculty in the fall of 2025. While there, he served as Family Medicine Clerkship Site Director, Scholarly Activity and Research Coordinator, Simulation and Procedural Curriculum Coordinator for the residency program, as well as Antibiotic Stewardship Program Representative and Research Medical Director for the hospital. During this time, he completed a certificate in Fundamentals of Health Professions education from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, and is currently working on a Masters of Education degree.
Internal Medicine Chief Resident
Emma Mulligan, MD (they/them)
Emma Mulligan grew up in the tiny mountain town of Gold Hill just outside of Boulder, Colorado. They moved to Boston and attended Boston University, majoring in biomedical engineering and graduated summa cum laude in 2018. They then continued on to Boston University School of Medicine, developing a passion for medical education and diagnostic reasoning and graduating in 2022.
They completed residency in Internal Medicine at University of California, San Diego from 2022-2025. During this time, they were competitively selected for the Resident as Clinician Educator Pathway, developing valuable skills and practical application towards graduate medical education teaching. During this time, they conducted research on Vitamin D and chronic kidney disease, presenting their poster at the American Society of Nephrology Annual Conference in 2024. Their MedEd work during this time included an asynchronous video orientation to the nuances of inpatient dialysis initiation and management, as well as significant engagement in medical student recruitment. They were recognized with the UCSD Internal Medicine “Excellence in Leadership” 2024-2025 for their ongoing efforts at programmatic improvement.
Emma served as one of the Chief Residents for the Internal Medicine program at UCSD, where they lead the research block for residents and serve in both clinical and administrative roles for the program. They helped guide the transition to an X+Y model while pioneering WAL-E, the Wednesday Afternoon Longitudinal Elective program designed to provide opportunities for residents to pursue subspecialty or other clinical experiences of personal interest. They served as the Chief Resident representative for the Resident as Clinician Educator Pathway, and helped progress scholarly activity by coordinating statistician support for resident research projects.
They are currently one of the Nephrology Fellows at UC San Diego Health.
